Hey Everyone,
Here is my 2nd batch of my claim Dominic Monaghan, I hope this is ok, as I'm new to this type of thing. I will having a break between Christmas and New Year but will get back into it in early 2007 as these are due at the end of January. All my resources are at my profile if anyones interested, credit me if you use any, all icons are under the cut, anyway here we go, enjoy!

Before you proceed to the fun challenge stuff, there are a couple of things you must know.

First of all, this post will be updated about twice a month, or more if neccessary...just out of courtesy it would be good if you checked it every once in a while...there will be important things posted here and as always the purpose of it is to make life easier.

Secondly, before joining this comm, please take a look at the rules posted in the RULES in the sidebar link or in the user info


Due to the amount of requests for extentions I've made a new post (the link can be found in the side bar) for this purpose. Included in this are the new regulations for extentions. Up until now I've been fairly flexible with extentions but it's getting a little out of hand...I've even been contacted for a second extention. It's a 100 days challenge and if I wanted to be heartless I'd say no extentions period...however I know people have lives so, I'm trying to take time restrictions into consideration. You can help both me and yourself by taking into consideration whether or not you truely have the time and/or desire to make a claim and complete a challenge.


I have updated the claims list to reflect claims that have not been completed by their due dates. For claims due today (the 28th) you have until midnight to submit them and after that if you do not give me any communication on a possible extention, your claim is incomplete and will be removed. There are a couple people who have already contacted me about their claims and thusly they have been given their requested extentions...I have to stress this is the only way you will be allowed any extra time...you must tell me if you need an extention, I'm not a mind reader and 99.9% of the time...you'll get extra time.

The people who's claims have been removed are as follows:

drakefn, lil_miss_coolio, engelsteorra, comeback, elevation, bite_me_cold, and mubee

if you have any conscerns or if you do have your claim complete but forgot to post the icons and notify me under the wall of fame post, please don't hesitate to let me know.


There has been a change in the comm rules. From here on out, you will have one MONTH from the time your claim is approved, to post your first batch of icons. The Rules post has been altered to reflect this as well as the challenge info but the user info will not be modified until tomorrow due to lack of time.


Being that it's the fall and it's back to school time my co-mods and I find ourselves a little short on time and thusly, the comm is in need of two things.

#1. Banner makers to help in the duties of making the awards banners for those who have completed their challenges. Preferably it would be nice to have more than one other person who is interested in helping us make banners because then the responsibility is not too heavy on any one person.

If you would like to help, please comment under the MOD REQUEST link in the side bar with a banner sample under this post so we can see if you are right for the job. The banners dont have to be ridiculously fancy, just appealing to the eye and somewhat interesting. Remember you'll be making these for people who have just taxed themselves with 100 icons in 100 days...make the banner worth their while.

#2. In addition to banner makers we are also looking for a couple people to be in charge of the memories and tags. What this means is obvioulsy, editing the tags of the entries if they need it and filing the entries into the memories section. It's not tough, just look at the memories section, look at the tags and then you'll be able to figure out how these things are formated :)

If you would like to take on this responsibility, please comment under the MOD REQUEST link in the side bar. As this duty involves very little, it's less discriminatory and the first few people that respond will be given the position.


As this has come up this week, if for some reason you need an extention on your two week first post deadline, please contact the mods and let us know you need more time. If you ask, you shall recieve...if you dont ask...your claim gets removed...simple as that :)

Community Rules

1. This is an icon community, which means that the only acceptable graphics for posting here are indeed, icons. Please do not post headers, banners, brushes, textures ect. Or your post will be deleted within 24 hours and you will be warned to follow the community rules.

Similarly, please do not post text only posts to ask questions or leave comments. There is a COMM NEWS post that can be easily accessed through the links in the side bar or through the memories. This is the place to leave your comments, questions, and thoughts.

2. If you do have a question, please consult the FAQ first as the answer may already be there. This makes life a ton easier for both you and the mods because you dont have to wait for your answer and the mods don't have to tell you to check the FAQ :)

If the answer to your question is not in the FAQ, please comment with it under the COMM NEWS or the FAQ post itself.

3. The COMM NEWS is updated at least twice a month (on the 1st and the 15th to be specific but it can be more often if it is neccessary). Please check it frequently, (once a week or so) as there can be important announcements / rule changes that you may miss otherwise

4. Icon theivery is a big no-no as you probably know by now...if you are caught using stolen icons, your posts will be deleted and you will be banned from the comm immediately.

If you know for a fact that someone is posting stolen icons in their challenge, please alert the mods via the comm email days100_icons100@hotmail.com so that the matter can be dealt with.

5. When using resources that are not your own, please respect the maker's wishes as far as editability and crediting requirements go.

Much like stolen icons if you are caught using stolen textures/patterns/stock photos and claming them as your own, you will be banned.

6. All posts must be made FRIENDS ONLY. This is to protect your icons from getting yoinked and redistributed by people without your approval.

7. If you would like to post preview batches of icons, that's perfectly fine but please make your spoilers no more than three icons, the rest must be put under the cut so as to not interfere with peoples friends lists.

8. Icons that portray material that is not suitable for all environments (sex, drugs, ect) must ALL be under the cut. In addition to this there must be a warning in the post that the icons about to be viewed are not safe for school or work

9. If you take on more than one challenge at once, please seperate your preview batches into different posts for each claim. This is just to make them easier to catologue under the memories section. It makes life a lot easier for everyone :)

10. Be respectful to the other comm members at all times.

If you have an issue with another member within the confines of the comm, let the mods know and the member will be dealt with.

If someone is bothering you at your personal journal, take the issue to the LJ abuse staff as they will be able to deal with it better.

*Rules are always subject to change, but you will be made well aware if and when a change occurs.
Challenge Regulations

The 100 day Challenge:

1. Before you begin making icons make sure you check the claims list (the link is in the side bar and you can also find it in the memories) to make sure that the subject you want to make your icons from has not already been claimed by another user.

If your subject has already been claimed, you have to wait until that particular challenge period is over to claim it. You may NOT claim the same thing twice in a row, there must be at least one challenge period passed before you can claim the subject again.

2. If your subject has already been claimed, there is always flexiblity. For example if you wanted to claim a television show in general, but it has been claimed...you can still claim a character, a ship/pairing, all the female characters, all the male characters, or even one single epiosode (though that would be hard) to make your icons of.

3. You are permitted to choose any topic/genre, and use any effects/stocks ect you like...your icons can even be all text icons if you like.

You are not permitted to post icons that promote hate, such as racism, homophobia, regligious intolerance ect. in any way shape or form

4. To submit your completed challenge please follow the brief guidelines below:

- either download an icon table (you can find a link to a generator in the comm links) or make your own to arrange your icons on before submission

- if you have posted ALL of your icons already, comment under the wall of fame post to have your name and link added to the list, recieve you banner, and be entered into the certificate pool.

if you have not posted all of your icons, you must first do so before taking the above steps.

- All challenges must be submitted by no later than midnight on the day they are due.

5. You are more than welcome to take on more than one challenge at a time, but keep in mind the timeframe does not get extended, you still only have 100 days to complete your challenge.

6. Once you have completed your challenge, your name and link to your site will be added to the wall of fame post within a day or so...you will recieve your banner and the mods will decide on a winner for the gift certificate for that particular time period.

Deciding factors for the winner include but are not limited to:

- timeliness of your submission
- consistancy (meaning does the second half of your submission look way more rushed than the first half)
- and over all style

Mods are permitted to enter the challenge but they cannot win the certificate.

7. Once you have completed your challenge feel free to do it all over again!!!

The Bi-Monthly Challenge:

1. Twice a month, the mods will take turns picking a fandom specific or genre specific challenge that is completely optional. This theme will be posted on the first and fifteenth of each month. If you would like to participate, you must reply to the challenge post so the mods know how many entries to expect.

2. There must be at least five entries to run the challenge. If there is less, then that challenge will stand for the next two weeks as well. If there are still less than five entries at this point, the subject of the challenge will be changed.

3. You can make as many or as few of ANY kind of icon you like so long as you exceed the minimum of 14 icons.

4. To submit your entries for this particular challenge, please follow the guidelines below.

- download or make your own icon table much as you would for the 100 days challenge.

- submit your entry under the bi monthly submission post (a new one will be created after each challenge comes to a close)no later than midnight the night BEFORE the challenge comes to an end

in other words, if the challenge runs from the 1st to the 14th, you must submit your entry by midnight on the 13th in order for it to be eligable.

5. After all the entries are submitted, the mods will post the entries in a reveal post. The members of the comm can then vote on the entries they want to win.

6. If there hasn't been enough entries and the challenge is prolonged for the next two weeks, you ARE allowed to use any and all of the icons you made for first challenge period :)

Banners will be given for the top three entries and your icons will be saved in the memories section
To Become an Affiliate

To become an affiliate to 100days100icons or to have us affiliate back to you, there are a few simple stipulations which are fairly common place but none the less...in case you don't know the protocol:

1. At this time only communities will be affiliated, personal icon journals may or may not be affiliated with at a later date.

2. The affiliation must go both ways...if you want to have a link to your comm or a comm you support/want to promote...you MUST link back to us. It is preferable if you use one of the banners/blinkies/buttons but not an absolute requirement...the link is the only really important thing.

3. If there is no link visiable or findable anywhere in your comm, your link here will be taken down immediately. This goes for if you remove our link at any point as well...yours will be removed just as promptly. To err is human so if its missing by accident, fix it as soon as you notice it gone and let the mods know so they can put your link back up.

4. The affiliates list can be found in the user info for now...if it gets to be a lenghty list, a post will be made and shoved in the memories section again, at a later date.

Challenge Claim/Participation Instructions

1. Consult the claims list under the cut to make sure your desired subject has not been claimed already. If it has, there may be some variation you could do, for instance if a member has claimed the T.V. series LOST in general, you could chose to do only one character from the show, or a ship, or all the men/women from the show, or even just a singular episode. Basically it's not the end of the world if someone already has your subject claimed, it's most often pretty flexible.

2. Comment under the post with by filling out the following form below:

3. Once you submit your claim request check the claims list (under the cut at the bottom of this entry) to make sure it has been approved. Generally this will happen within 24 hours. You will be contacted by a mod if there is a problem with your claim...if two people claim the same thing on the same day, obviously its a time clock question and the person who submitted their request first will get the claim.

After your claim has been approved you must post your first batch of 10 icons within 4 weeks. This is to prevent people from making fake claims and making other members wait 100 days for the chance to claim that particular subject.

After that you can post your progress batches as infrequently or as frequently as you like. Just remember that the posts must have at least 10 icons.

And of course...don't forget the 100 day deadline!!!

4. Create your own icon table, download one, or go to 77words's generator to prepare your icon table for when you're ready to submit your challenge. You can also do this after you complete the challenge...just dont forget as it is a requirement to submit your entry in table form.

5. Once you are finished consult the rules (again, located in the user info) to learn how to submit your entry

6. Lather, rinse, and repeat after the first challenge is over.
